Will having bronchitis and still pulling through with singing ruin my vocal chords?

I have bronchitis and I have to sing next week. My cough is pretty dry but when I cough I can taste a bit of blood, or there is a bit of blood in the phlegm (sorry gross I know but don't know how to go about it any other way) the fever part is some what over, although from time to time I feel like it may come back (feeling hot from time to time) . I slowly got my voice sort of back after a few days, wasn't able to talk at all a few days ago. I went to the doc and she said I have bronchitis, but should I bother going to my voice lessons next week if I still have bronchitis or will it damage my vocal chords? I don't know whether to let my voice rest or not. I missed one of my cles already because I had a flight to California, and I'm not sure if I want to miss my lesson again.
