Special factors when creating a quilt?
Materials: I prefer pure cotton, but polycotton is fine for a baby. Filling: I think polyester is the lightest and therefore healthiest for a baby (weight is bad). Backing can be cotton, and brushed cotton is nice. Colour: either baby colours or to suit the decor of the room. I'm not personally fond of cute bunnies, but some people fancy them. I like strong geometric patterns (purely personal). Size: either make to fit the cot, or a bit bigger to be folded and used later as a throw. Most important: if the baby messes on it, it must be washable. Don't put fancy bits like ons or ribbons on the front in case of swallowing and choking, or fingers catching. Quilting stitches: I usually hand quilt, but machine quilting might be more secure. Hope that helps.
