Gifts for someone who's been through an ectopic pregnancy?

I don't know my next door neighbor really well, but we talk regularly and she's done me favors in the past. Recently, she was thrilled to find that after months of trying, she was pregnant. Then yesterday she found that it was ectopic and she lost the baby. Not only is she no longer pregnant, but she's had major surgery and can't get around very well. I was thinking about stopping by today to see how she's doing, and maybe taking a small gift or something. What should I take? I was thinking she must be bored to tears, since I doubt she can move around much just yet. Should I take some crossword puzzle books or something so she'll have something to do? Snacks? Something entirely different?
